President George Q. Cannon:

“God has reserved spirits for this dispensation who have the courage and determination to face the world, and all the powers of the evil one, visible and invisible, to proclaim the Gospel, and maintain the truth, and establish and build up the Zion of our God, fearless of all consequences. He has sent these spirits in this generation to lay the foundation of Zion never more to be overthrown, and to raise up a seed that will be righteous, and that will honor God, and honor him supremely, and be obedient to him under all circumstances.”7

From Elder Bednar . . .

1. Does the use of various technologies and media invite or impede the constant companionship of the Holy Ghost in your life?
2. Does the time you spend using various technologies and media enlarge or restrict your capacity to live, to love, and to serve in meaningful ways?

A man was having a conversation with God one day and said,

'Lod, I would like to know what the difference is between the Light of your

Truth and the Darkness of Satan? '

He led the man to two doors. He opened one of the

doors and the man looked in. In the middle of the room was a large round table.

In the middle of the table was a large pot of stew, which smelled delicious and

made the man's mouth water.

The people sitting around the table were thin and sickly.

They appeared to be famished. They were holding spoons with very long handles

that were strapped to their arms and each found it possible to reach into the

pot of stew and take a spoonful.

But because the handle was longer than their arms, they

could not get the spoons back into their mouths. The man shuddered at the sight

of their misery and suffering.

The Lord said, 'You have seen The Darkness.'

They went to the next room and opened the door. It was

exactly the same as the first one.

There was the large round table with the large pot of stew

which made the man's mouth water. The people were equipped with the same

long-handled spoons, but here the people were well nourished and plump, laughing

and talking.

The man said, 'I don't understand.'

It is simple,' said God. 'It requires but one skill. You

see they have learned to feed each other, while the greedy think only of themselves.'

Alma 14:21
And many such things did they say unto them, gnashing their teeth upon them, and spitting upon them, and saying: How shall we look when we are damned?

(Whoa, how far gone must you be to not realize how depraved that is?)

Tomb, thou shalt not hold Him longer;
Death is strong, but Life is stronger;
Stronger than the dark, the light;
Stronger than the wrong, the right...

And I will also ease the aburdens which are put upon your shoulders, that even you cannot feel them upon your backs, even while you are in bondage; and this will I do that ye may stand as bwitnesses for me hereafter, and that ye may know of a surety that I, the Lord God, do visit my people in their cafflictions.
Mosiah 24:14

We take on the Strength of that which we overcome.

Just because you can doesn't mean you should.
A wise woman who was traveling in the mountains found a precious stone in a stream. The next day she met another traveler who was hungry, and the wise woman opened her bag to share her food. The hungry traveler saw the precious stone and asked the woman to give it to him. She did so without hesitation. The traveler left, rejoicing in his good fortune. He knew the stone was worth enough to give him security for a lifetime. But a few days later he came back to return the stone to the wise woman.
"I've been thinking," he said, "I know how valuable the stone is, but I give it back in the hope that you can give me something even more precious. Give me what you have within you that enabled you to give me the stone.

Be timeless. A girl du jour has a short shelf life.

Another blog?

Yup.
I was thinking about how I need a creative outlet and how the usual ones are not an option for me right now.
Then my sister brought me a newspaper she found on the ground in Boston with a Brian Kershisnik painting on the cover. As I opened it up, it had some great quotes in it and I wanted them to be out there somewhere for me to access and/or just remember. I don't have any kind of good filing system and lately the internet is where my life seems to happen so I have decided to post them here for at least me and if you happen to stumble upon this then that's fine too.
So I'll start with the truest thing I know (other than all the gospel truths I for sure KNOW.)

"Well begun is half done."
